The Classroom Environment

Students are allowed to choose their works while they are guided to independence and motivated by their own joy of learning.

Classrooms are organized by mixed age groups and flexible groupings. In each classroom, you will find children working on different concepts at the level that challenges and yet is not frustrating. Older children are encouraged to serve as role models and helpers for younger children, thereby providing opportunities to become future leaders and caring citizens.

Students do not passively absorb knowledge from the teacher. The Montessori teacher’s role is to observe and provide guidance when appropriate and to intervene when the child is ready to move on to a higher level.
